Key Features of CECOEDECON:

  1. Traditional Facade Design:
    • The facade of the building pays homage to Rajasthan’s rich architectural heritage, featuring elements such as Chatris (elevated, dome-shaped pavilions), Domes, and Mehrabs (ornate arched niches). These traditional elements not only add aesthetic charm but also reflect the region’s cultural identity.
  2. Use of Jalis for Climate Control:
    • Jalis (intricately carved stone screens) adorn the southern and western sides of the building, serving as passive cooling devices to reduce heat gains in the hot, dry climate of Rajasthan. These architectural features allow for natural ventilation while providing shade and privacy.
  3. Swaraj:
    • The building, known as Swaraj, encompasses four floors, each serving a specific purpose:
      • Basement: Printing and publication facilities for disseminating information and resources.
      • Ground Floor: Academic spaces for workshops, seminars, and educational programs.
      • First Floor: Residential hostels to accommodate staff and participants attending various programs.
      • Second Floor: Dining area, fostering community interaction and social cohesion among residents and visitors.
  4. Auditorium and Open-Air Theater:
    • CECOEDECON boasts a 100-seat capacity auditorium for hosting conferences, lectures, and cultural events. Additionally, a spacious open-air theater with a seating capacity of 1500 serves as a vibrant gathering center for the campus community, promoting engagement and collaboration.
  5. Integration of Sustainable Design Practices:
    • The design incorporates sustainable principles to minimize environmental impact and enhance energy efficiency. Features such as passive cooling strategies, efficient lighting systems, and rainwater harvesting contribute to the building’s sustainability credentials.
  6. Community Engagement and Empowerment:
    • Beyond its physical infrastructure, CECOEDECON serves as a catalyst for community empowerment and social change. Through its programs, workshops, and advocacy efforts, the NGO fosters grassroots participation and mobilizes communities to address local challenges and promote sustainable development.
