Water Supply Scheme
Water supply scheme should ensure sufficient quantity of supply
Ensure economic and financial viability ( not in case of India) such that capital and recurring cost is within affordable limit.
Quality of water: Temp 50 degree F and less than 80 deg., Turbidity between 2.5 and less than 10 part per million(PPM), colourless than 10PPM and Max. permissible amount of manganese or iron should be between 0.3 to 0.6 PPM.,
Odour and taste due to inorganic matter or inorganic substances like iron, sodium chloride, Hydrogen sulphide.
Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) means there is organic matter in water,
Salt more than 250PPM makes it unpalatable,
Alkalanity due to mineral salts dissolved in water
