xref is external reference in autocad. Xref is a drawing that is inserted in another drawing file for reference. The column schedule which has to be repeated on all floors can be xref-ed. The benefit is if u want to change any single column you just change in the column schedule drawing. It will automatically be changed in all the floors where it is referenced.
