STRUCTURE PLANS
In 1971, Structure Plans were developed in Britain. It consisted of 5 parts:
(a) Structore Plan: Which is a Policy Plan and the boundary of which coincides with
the Administrative boundary.
(b) Local Plans : The parts of the Structure Plans which are to be developed.
© Subject Plans: For an area with special emphasis as declared in the Strurture Plan.
(d) Regulation 8 Plan: For specific areas with typical problems, which can go against
the provisions of the Structure Plan.
(e) Programs: It is a written document which deals with the subject matter which are
necessary for each of the Local Plans.
In 1975, Madras Metropolitan Development Authority prepared the first Structure Plan in
India and in 1985, the concept National Capital Region (NCR) was started.
