Dry stone cladding -
FDArchitects - 07-18-2014
Due to temperature variation wet cladding is not successful in India. So dry cladding is becoming more successful in composite climatic condition of Rajasthan. Architects in Jaipur prefer to use SS clamps to fix 25 mm thick groove stone for exterior facade elevation.
All external anchors, dowels and fixings should be of stainless steel or other corrosion resistant materials. Any metal dowels and fixings securing the cladding panels should be suitable, permanent and adequately protected from corrosion.
Height of the façade must be less than 28 m if the joints are filled with mortarand less than 18 m if the joints are not filled
Cladding is defined as a protective covering that protects the outside of a building. Stone cladding also pertains to the building envelope as a skin to the building that covers it and protects it from harsh external environment, including weather and the sun.
CLAMPS
Corrosion resistant metals like copper, brass ,stainless steel are used in clamps
ANCHOR BOLT DIAMETERS
5mm for slabs 30 to 40mm thick
6mm for slabs greater than 40 mm thick
AIR SPACE
The distance between the back of the stone and the reference plane of the support or the insulation must be greater than equal to 2 cm
