Our client is a busy lawyer who is very attached to his traditional home in a Kutchhi village, but his hectic schedule does not permit
him to go there often,' says Archana Shah. 'He had a vacant plot just next to his residence in a calm and quiet area of Ahmedabad's old city centre, which feels quite remote from the urban sprawl, so we suggested he build his weekend retreat on this plot itself, in the style of his village home. It would be cost effective, as he would not have to invest in real estate and would also save on costs of construction materials.' Once the decision was finalised, the architects did an exhaustive study of the village houses to see how they could implement their vision.
