How is reverberation time calculated for a room?
Reverberation time (RT60) is calculated using
Sabine’s formula
RT60 =0.161⋅V / A
where:
V= Volume of the room (in cubic meters)

A = Total sound absorption (in square meters)

Example: A large hall with reflective surfaces will have a longer reverberation time than a carpeted room. Proper design ensures optimal reverberation time for the room’s purpose.
