Plastering

A mixture of lime or gypsum with sand & water which then hardens into a smooth solid.

Plastering is done after bricklaying work.

After plastering, painting can be done.

There are 2 types of plaster Gypsum Based and Cement Based
Cement based plaster commonly used in wall putty.

Need to be done by skillful workers to acquire smooth surface and beautiful plastering work.

Plaster work can easily be repaired

Process of Plastering
  1. Preparation: The surface to be plastered must be clean and free from dust, grease, and loose particles. Any irregularities or holes are filled, and the surface is dampened to prevent premature drying of the plaster.
  2. Mixing: The chosen materials (cement, lime or gypsum, and sand) are mixed with water to form a consistent paste. The proportions vary depending on the type of plaster and its intended use.
  3. Application: Plaster is applied in layers. The first layer, known as the scratch coat, is applied to provide a rough surface for the next coat to adhere to. The second layer, or brown coat, is applied to build up the thickness and smooth out the surface. The final layer, called the finish coat, provides the smooth finish.
  4. Curing: After application, the plaster needs to be kept moist to ensure proper curing and hardening. This process can take several days.
