Surat-based Babubhai Sanghvi's private residence listed in 'Golden Hands' collectors' edition featuring contemporary works of Indian architects
Babulal Sanghvi’s residence is a lavish 3,000 sq mt plot, which was to house a home contemporary in appeal, Indian in function, and impeccable in finish. The spatial planning of the house was conceived in such a manner that a perfect synergy emerged between the architecture and interior designing of the house on its completion. The house was planned keeping in mind the minutest detail of interior designing. In spite of the house being located in a populated part of the city, it was designed to be a private haven in harmony with the outdoors. The house has three levels – lower ground floor, ground floor and the first floor. The lower ground floor is designed as a recreational area, housing a 1,000 sq ft state-of-the-art Home Theatre, fully equipped Gymnasium, and a mini Spa with Children’s Pool, family Jacuzzi, Steam and Sauna facilities. The heart of the house is in fact the atrium, which connects the ground floor and the first floor and creates a degree of fluidity between the interior and exteriors through its unique skylight roof. The play of light created from dawn to dusk in the atrium fills the house with different moods at different times of the day. The serene landscaping all around the house helps to create a quiet oasis shielded from the urban chaos. A dream house in the heart of the city. A home to three generations of a family living in peaceful harmony.
