Calcutta Conservation Aspects

The heritage of Calcutta has only recently entered the consciousness of its citizens and lawmakers. For many years after independence, the historical , and sociological relevance of the Calcutta of that era lay unrecognized and even heavily abused. It is only in the last decade that there have been a few scattered attempts at conservation, and a very slowly emerging awareness of the need for conservation not only for historical reasons but also as an investment for the future.
