• Drawings and sheets should be self explanatory .
• While translating a design one needs to be very ca reful in that sense of different observations as to which is applicable to all.
• Lack of study of local situation and peculiarity of the site like road map and the context
Any given memory is fu ndamentally a blend of references to space and time. Architecture not only allows us to experience or use a space, but it also helps us est ablish our being in time - our temporal existence. The understanding of the ancient local and traditional ideas of space and time in an indian context leading to the idea of a helical time forms the cultural base for the seasonal cycle which supports all other processes linking the agricultural cycle, celebrations cycle and more.
The flow of time associated with the process of articulation is evidently absent, resulting in the notion of architecture as static; and the intervention, a passive mass. Theoretically, the thesis is an attempt to explore the temporality of architecture by learning the multiple ways of how space is utilised in time and demonstrated through the design of an urban insert project, and to understand the dynamics in indian urbanity formed as a momentary interaction between some commonly observed phenomenons in time. Exploring the local concepts and notions of t ime and space helps in noting the connections between them. In terms of function, observing different possibilities of how space and time
are defined in common urban instances helps in establishing measurably, four dependencies.
These four relations can be observed where there are different dependencies between the function and the space. Similarities can be observed between these re lationships and the biological phenomena in nature. As a metaphor, these dependencies are termed as symbiotic, mutant, indefinite and commensalic. The thesis focuses on the concept of kinetic cities more than kinetic structures. In the layers of temporal context, there are natural ones with the diurnal and seasonal changes which influence the
working of architecture in the form of climate, weather and light But, there are also these four functional dependencies which interact, coexist and negotiate with each other momentarily and these interactions, coexistence and negotiation make the architecture time-bound and the city an ephemeral one .
Taken from : ARCHIVING ARCHITECTURAL THESIS 2020 - "Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis" the annual program conducted by the Council of Architecture through its academic unit Council of Architecture Training and Research Centre (COA TRC) completed its eleventh cycle in 2016.
