A'building'is generally a single structure on the ground. Usually a building will have four walls and a roof.
However, in some areas, the very nature of construction of building is such that there are no walls as in the case of conical structures. Such conical structures are also treated as buildings.
Sometimes, it is made up of more than one component unit which are used or likely to be used as dwellings(residences)or establishments such as shops, business houses, offices, factories, workshops, worksheds, schools,places of entertainment, places of worship, godowns, stores, etc. It is also possible that buildings which have component units are used for a combination of purposes such as shop-cum residence, workshop-cum-residence, office-cum-residence, residence-cum-doctor's clinic etc.
