Aerated and foamed concrete
Concretes containing intentionally entrained voids in the hardened cement paste or mortar
matrix to form a cellular structure of low density are known as aerated, cellular, gas,
foamed or foam concretes.
Aerated concrete :
Gas (hydrogen) bubbles are introduced into cement
paste or mortar usually made with Portland cement of suitable consistence by aluminium
powder (0.2 per cent by mass of cement) which reacts both with Ca(OH)2 and alkalis
released into solution.
Foamed concrete
Foamed concrete is classified as having an air content of more than 25 per cent.
