A SEARCH FOR ALTERNATIVE PLAN MODELS FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION
In this context the nationsal workshop on Master Plans Approach : Its Efficacy and Alternatives conducted by Town and country Planning Organisation, Ministry of Urban Affairs and Employment, Government of India on 24-25 February 1995 in New Delhi have looked into some of the possible alternative approaches to the master plan concept. Briefly these alternatives included :
a) Structure plans and local plans (as practiced in United Kingdom)
b) General plan and zoning plan (as practiced in USA)
c) Master Directive Plan. Execution Plan and Action Area Plan (as recommended by National Commission on Urbanisation NCU)
d) Settlement Perceptive Plan and Settlement Development Plan (as recommended by the 40th Annual Town and Country Planning Seminar of ITP at Pune)
