Rural Areas -
Any administrative area that was not classified as urban (Statutory and Census Town) is treated as a rural area.The basic unit of classification in rural areas is village. Though villages are commonly referred to as panchayat villages and revenue villages, for the purpose of census, only revenue village is taken as the basic administrative unit.
