LIJO JOS AND RENY LIJO

It is a contemporary home but Lijo Jos and Reny Lijo have paid great heed to the traditional architecture of the region, adopting the principles of a vocabulary that carered to the climate and lo ale. It is a house full of light and air, an open house, where all the areas seem to look out onto each other.
The house rests behind a compound wall , with openings on either side, which allow a glimpse of the serene landscape within. The wall has two entry gates - one for vehicles, the other, a wicket gate, which stands under a gateway. Say the architects, 'It is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional "padippura", and a very good example of how time honoured elements can be used in a modern context.'
