Sustainable transport in India could be achieved by :

•Bring about a significant shift from the car to other ways of travelling, such as walking, cycling and public transport.
•Reduction of transport demand 
•Promotion/improvement of more energy efficient and environment friendly transport modes 
•Improvement in efficiency of the transport process 
•Introduction of new technology
•work to permanently change social attitudes and driver behavior, so as to reduce travel demand, particularly by car and particularly in the peak periods.
