Questions asked in Jury on ACOUSTICS - BUILDING SERVICE STUDIO-III
Faculty of Planning and Architecture, Poornima University , Jaipur

Unit of sound absorption coefficient?
The sound absorption coefficient is a ratio and hence dimensionless. However, the unit of sound absorption is expressed in sabins.
Example: A carpet with an absorption coefficient of 0.8 absorbs 80% of the incident sound energy, while a concrete wall with 0.1 absorbs only 10%.
