Science, technology and human expedition touch every side of our Lives. We want to expand our existence to t he possible section of the universe. Since the time humans existed and developed their ability to recall, they have been seeing the Moon. The Moon has interested us for countless reasons. We have made the human touchdown on the surface of the Moon. • The scale of the project is similar to an urban design project, however, the responsibility to justify the project goes beyond the site.
• Modes of accessibility should be explored more, from ground to terrace and back. The movement could have been used to trace the quality of space.
Urban life is changing rapidly and drastically. Open and green spaces have almost exhausted in urban areas due to urbanization. As the country faces a rapid increase in the population, the exist ing social problems are ignored and even worsened. The development aims to create a balanced lifestyle with vibrant mixed uses that encourages a sensible environment. There are numerous "urban voids" in between build ings, corners, etc. and it can be used productively for public gathering with enormous activity, an enclosed public space, green open spaces as waterfront development to get people involved.
These spaces have the capability of enhancing and strengthening the public realm. The Mass Rapid Transportation system MRTS
-Running from Chennai beach station to Velachery connecting 17 stations in between is the one of the busiest transportations in the city carrying about 1,00,000 passengers to and fro in a day. It was constructed over the Buckingham canal to connect the major parts of the city. It Thesis aims to explore good public space by using place making as a key tool for better designing. The site is a stretch starting from Indira nagar station to LB road connecting Thi ruvanmiyur station. The site has well mixed urban grains on one side with residents and the other side with institutional faci lities. The
contribute to a pavilion where people can donate their things and beside it is the adventure pavilion when people walk through it creates a sound that makes them feel relaxed. The proposed design provides convenient, comfortable, and seamless connections between neighbourhood, transport fac ilities, key spaces, attractions and it also ensures the weather comfort for the pedestrian users. The proposal could be considered as a prototype and can be implemented in the urban
Jury Comments
• The central space with water and Light provides for a good meditation space.
• It is important to understand the biodiversity and the environment of the surrounding, with respect to the role played by nature
• The scale chosen is monumental, while the activity involved in t he project is sublime.

Perception can improve spatial experience and meditation. "Fulfilling tra nquility alone can Lead meditation" because the world is missing the most important aspect in Life - inner serenity, a true sense of tranquility can only be achieved with connecting human senses, but what we have been doing is fooling ourselves by sitting in quiet space around, so I have decided to design a space which should boost the process of meditation by giving its basic needs to enlig htenment- that is a "center for tranquility" .
The aim is to challenge in bringing our serenity back from this cruel repressed world through designing the space with its suitable aspects of architectural arrangements and also the choice of material which should kick start the autonomous sensory meridian response (asmr) in our body. Psychologically, t he world we see is just a four sided walls. The perspective of
Living this Life now is a 'world' which is a 4 sided walls, but our ancestors Lived their Life with their senses fulfilled, but through ages with wrong misleading of Living , we were forced to Live in this 'cube' with no single senses involved, so it
psychologically make us hate this world and Lose our inner serenity as well.
Through meditation, it is expected to Lead the individual to overcome repression, Lower their personal inhibit ions and develop a state of emptiness and/main enlightenment. Spaces include, tranquility hall, meditat ion center, residential Locks, guest rooms, gardens, shopping center, restaurants, interpretation center and recreational areas. "Inner serenity" had become an obvious element in t his stressful Life, so fulfilling t hat is the major conclusion of the project. Tuning this element with appropriate stances in architectural standard is the main objective of this thesis .
Jury Comments
• A well-developed project with concern and compassion for the differently a bled. However, the built space does not give that effect of spatial quality with variations.
• The materials, surfaces, textures in the space, measurement of sound smell and senses of perceiving needs more exploration with detailed specifications.
• Services must be shown to provide clarity regarding the functio ning of the building and landscape.

In India, one percent of the entire population have some form of visual and hearing impairment according to the census. There are very few research institutions currently active in india that are dedicated to improving the quality of their lifestyle. The aim of this thesis is to design space that can accommodate their needs and contribute to increasing their quality of life. As a way of enhancing their experience of space, t his thesis explores architecture as a sensory experience in the built environment and how we as designers can understand, interpret and contribute to impaired people's experiences in such an environment.
The intention is to design an independent society that empowers blind, deaf and partial ly-sighted people. The envisaged society is a non-profit organization t hat serves the impaired people in the areas of rehabilitation, education, formal and informal employment, accommodation, and recreation, where the agenda is to improve their quality of life. The main purpose is to encourage the user group to pursue art as education and to create employment opportunities through residential and outreach programs. This is a society built to possess the in herent nature of attracting relevant users temporarily as well as for 2-3 years to accomplish the preferred course and are released to be effective within the community. There is a need for such an institution within the society that does not attempt to isolate the impaired group but to provide a place where expertise, knowledge, and
assistance for such people is available. To construct a 'Mothering environment' for the user group rather than a 'hostile environment', the spaces should be a continuous sensory
experience that impaired people will be able to make use of. Location and direction cues from a variety of acoustic, aural, tactile, olfactory and kinaesthetic senses need to be incorporated as conscious elements of architectural design to achieve this.

There is a need for such an institution within the society that does not attempt to isolate the impaired group but to provide a place where expertise, knowledge, and
Jury Comments
• Old cities and old towns are romantic and poetic, and when many of the contemporary modules of a housing and towns are proposed the aura of the city changes. Responding to
this issue by incorporating climate and cultural aspects are praise worthy.
• The potential of actually looking at this project as a business model and strengthening the community by cooperative process is interesting.
• It might be a good idea to reimagine this whole institution of community washing, as a dhobi cooperative and whole operation resulting in a global phenomenon.

An internet search on "Dhobighat" reveals it to be the world's largest outdoor laundry, set in the heart of the city of Mumbai, India. It has been a Heritage Occupation for more than 200 Families in Mumbai and it is continuously serving 1/3rd laundry needs of Mumbai for the past 150 Years. It has provided job opportunity for more than 1500 immigrants. The project demanded a design to be developed keeping in mind the heritage occupation of that set of immigrants and also how they will function in that space.
Dhobi Ghat - an urban sprawl of a large group of laundry-men in Mumbai was chosen as the targeted population.
The pre-existing set-up was such that the population had created a living space for themselves at their site of work creating a robust mixed-use zone. The space to be designed was envisaged in such a way that the Heritage character and activity of dhabi does not get disturbed and to enhance the International tourism to create additional income for Dhobis. The intent was to support a heritage working community and also its social, economic and political values to sustain in the fast developing city by providing a better infrastructure. The idea was to protect the Heritage of the place from the private sector without disturbing the importance of the place with huge commercial scale value.
Decongesting of the existing workspace by providing a functional pattern for washing activity from its built fabric, circulation in relation to the washing stones and modern equipment. To facilitate the Dhobi community, by providing betterment of infrastructure for more efficient washing, hyg iene, sanitation welfare and healthcare facilities were some of the key concerns including proper workspace for the user, a hygienic environment, housing with a proper working community, a breathing space and to reduce the congestion of Dhobighat.
Construction is the biggest non-agricultural industry in the capitalist world. It is the activity which creates new construction and civil engineering projects. It also aids in maintenance and repair of the existing facilities. The spatial dispersion of construction sites and the relatively temporary project -wise nature of the work, mark out construction as potentially distinct from other industries in terms of labour requirement practices and use of capital. The living condition and access to amenities are the major challenges for the construction labours.
The labours and their families live in huts or under the canvas. In the working site, they live in a temporary shelter which lacks basic amenities like sanitation and safe drinking water. Hence t his project is aimed to create a better place to stay for the construction labours which has access to the basic amenities like sanitation and daycare facility for the children of the labours. There are a number of potential user group who can be benefitted by this idea of mobile buildings. For example, refugees, nomads, transient labou rs, people in the field of adventure, defense, places hit by natural calamities, pop-up stalls in festivals, etc. The study started with identifying the major parts of the scaffolding with the dimensions obtained from the study, the dimension of one module can be decided, which on manipu lation can give rise to the skeleton of the structure. Once the plans of the typical units are arrived at, they are grouped together with certain assigned rules to form basic clusters. Jury Comments
• The ideology behind the project is the motivation to solve human problems. Architecture has the capability to bring out and solve some of the things, and make people aware of the surrounding.
• The built form is articulated and the plan is sensible, but it doesn't go well with the intent of the project.
• Emphasis should have been on the site plan, as sustainability is a concern of the project.

Human beings, unlike many creatures, have the power to willingly break a pre-existing natural order of a place to create a newer one that suit their needs. Cities hold more than
half the population of all humans on earth but they take up Less than 1% of the Liveable area on the planet. As a resu lt, behavioural, social, environmental and psychological problems arise because meeting basic needs for every individual becomes arduous. For a predominant population residing in urbanised areas, the sky is sometimes the only natural element they can visually connect with, provided the air is not polluted as much. The project context takes into consideration t he climate-sensitive urban regions (with dense population) on a global scale to find potential sites for the indirect mitigation of climate change as a global trend by addressing the impact of di rty urbanisation.
Forth is, the Elliots beach which Lies in Chennai, South India is taken into consideration because of its underlying potential opportunities as an upcoming active public space in the city, that also vastly improves the image of the city perceived by its inhabitants. Intervention would be in a manner which is inclusive of all the sites existing natural, cultural and urban constituents. The thesis was carried forth on a qualitative basis and it experiments primarily using design direction, to build codependency between the built environment and the beings that inhabit it through generative practices (resource + energy storage), socia l cohesion (multi-user group program Layering) and opportunities to prioritise economic, indigenous products and renewable sources as an alternative, to proliferate a carbon-negative Lifestyle through social induction (and trends) in a public space
and secondarily, to take a holistic approach to address and envisage (through dialog ue) the implications of urbanisation on the city of Chennai (narrowed down, potentially sensitive site) through arch itecture using Logical, symbolic and emotional conflict

Community working (co working space)
Chennai, India

Jury Comments
• Architecture makes it possible for people to come together in a space of various disciples and share their thoughts. The mound provided doesn't reflect the same.
• Interactive spaces provided, both indoors and outdoors should be associated with the activities.
• A project of Large scale should reflect on the social and cultural Life of people and their interactions.

The thesis fundamentally questions the image of workspaces in the near future. With the emerging new t rend of a more independent workforce, plus t he global trends of horizontal organizational structures and urban office buildings integrated with informal spaces, the future workspace will focus highly on informal interactions which Lead to the mutual economic benefits of knowledge sharing, team building and job satisfaction. This project works towards developing a futuristic working space for the independent millennial workforce and make the hub open for all- i.e., to respect the needs of users requiring collaborative spaces and as well as the privacy of introverted users by providing varying Levels of Luxury and standards of economic outlook. Concept for the site zoning is Breathing mass and the Biophilic architecture.
According to this theory human exposed to nature will generate stimuli through involuntary activities supported by voluntary attention. This reduces stress Level and the energy Level will increase. The classical physical design of a co-working space is an open-floor plan with shared workspaces where co-workers can easily interact with each other. More informal spaces/ facilities such as coffee corners, a kitchen, meeting rooms, 24/7 access, internet access, printer and copying facilities, Lounge space are given. The spaces will be designed to provide opportunity to interact with people from varying professional backgrounds, who would Likely be a useful connection and this in turn can be converted into generating Leads and partnership opportunities in being surrounded by committed, enthusiastic workers who are highly motivating.
These collaborations often Lead to business expansions. Breathing mass creates voids in the block for the air flow into the site with green bed and additive method helps to achieve with squares and rectangle modules for easy cross ventilation and Lighting. There are some voids to Let air to cross into t he site and will have air movement all over the site and the water body will reduce the temperature of the air, making it cool.

Jury Comments
• Pandemic has given us a deep understanding to build a connection with the living and work space.
• The workspace that is small needs to be studied more for better understa nding.

This thesis proposes a new -built collection of the five elements, work, live, show, learn and play, which is a "creative hub" in Bengaluru catering primarily to startups and freelancers which have a pretty vibrant start-up culture and creative hotspot in South India. With the emerging local trend of a more independent workforce, plus global trends of horizontal organizational structures and urban working spaces with more informal areas.
The future will focus highly on informal interaction and social distancing and our role is to generate the spatial conditions that empower the community by supporting innovation and creativity. The approach is to upbring creative people from all over the region into a common spot and to ensure the various shared spaces have the right degree of proximity, privacy and permission for healthy informal interactions, without compromising on space efficiency and worker productivity.
The design proposal should be seen as an example of how to share, demonstrate, educate, inspire, make and collaborate in order to generate new sustainable development.
Hence, the attention paid to "creative city" to maximize the opportunities for face-to-face meetings, unrestricted flow of information and collaboration. Research by design is mainly
implemented, and needs have been tested through digital model studies and sketching.
• Neat and detailed work of utilizing the water body for the aquarium rather than giving it on ground.
• There could have been the presence of a tunnel, deeper in the water to allow people to experience the sea world.

India has a long coastline of 7,527 km, abundant fresh water bodies, one of the world's largest peninsulas and is also blessed with many perennial water bodies. This project aims to create recreational facilit ies for all age groups and educate people about marine aquatic life and their importance, awareness on endangered species and how they can be protected. The other objective is to conserve species and biodiversity - conservation through mating, fish hospitals and quarantine for breeding. Most important objective is to encourage tourism - to change the way people interact with the environment.
The spaces are designed considering the current pandemic scenario and making it suitable for any future such disasters. Introducing green and sustainable features. Dynamic architecture reveals three major innovations: changing shapes, industrial production of nits and selfproduction of clean energy.
Dynamic architecture buildings follow the sun and wind, design more efficient and environment friendly. Includes a cladding screen made up of aluminium shingles which can move
independently with the flow of wind to create a fluid or ripple effect across the entire surface, as well as provid ing some protection against rain. Kinetic lamellas make up the surface and supported at the top and bottom edges of the facade. The lamellas are composed of glass fibre reinforced polymers which gives them a high tensile strength, low bending stiffness and allows for large reversible elastic deformations.
Educating people in this respect and stressing the urgency would not be better achieved than through entertainment facility. Urbanisation, progressive development and pollution has led to the decline in marine species. The decline in marine species has in turn led to decline in tourism and fishery industry. By introducing an oceanarium in this area and making it a sustainable project, the above-mentioned points would be fulfilled and marine tourism can flourish in India
Jury Comments
• While working on sensitive issues, it is important to pinpoint the issue while discussing solutions.
• Detailed program has to be mentioned as to how to bring the civilians and military people together.
• Space for civilians and military is hypothetical, as a military base is a secured zone.

Kashmir is a highly militarized zone in india, from 1989 s militant insurgency to 2019's scrapping of A370 a large portion of indian army resides here for maintaining order in the valley. This presence of military, check posts and restricted areas have on ly led to worse civil-military relations and protests. The research undertaken in this project examines the geopolitical crisis of Kashmir and explores the role of architecture in observing the current situation. This project provides a platform for Indian Army to carry
out these operations like operation sadbhavna for the civilians. Carefully studying operation sadbhavna a program was developed which included activities such as providing free
education, women and youth empowerment classes, skill development training, physical training, health and san itization. The site selected is in Badami Bagh cantonment area, a
hotspot of military establishment in the city of Srinagar .
An attempt is made to break the social stigma associated with the military in Kashmir by converting a part of military land into a public space and allowing civilians as a symbolic gesture by the army for cooperation, collaboration and coexistence. The proposal follows a sustainable approach by following traditional construction techniques like 'Burza pash' and 'Dhajji-d iwari'. While these traditional gardens represented a place of self-contemplation and leisure, the new contemporary paradigm must represent conflict and compromise, collaboration and co-existence, cu lture and trade. A new contemporary paradigm must narrate a story of compassion to its posterity.

In conclusion, the underpinning idea behind the project is that the ground level interaction of civ ilians and military personnel in their daily lives will help in better understanding of each other's lives and will lead to a healthy relationship. Jury Comments
• The vehicular transition requires greater understanding in a city Like Bengaluru where people depend on individual transportation.
• Build ing a future metropolis one has to be extremely cautious.

This thesis explores t he role of placelessness in architecture. The memory of a human is Largely and closely related to the place he once habituated. This thesis explores the architectural implications of the feeling of placelessness and Loss of identity. The intent is to highlight the connections between architecture, place, and Living memory.
The focal point of the project Lies in spatializing disjunction through architecture. The attempt is to form interconnections between knowledge of these events and the act of remembrance in order to open up discourses of tolerance. Many pioneering research organizations emphasize the need for a record of such brazen incidents
for further prevention of similar histories of human intolerance. Through the process of analyzing the warning signs that arise ahead of an attempt of ethnic cleansing, research forms the base for opening up the conversations that need to be addressed. This combined with the spatialized storytelling in the form of a museum allows for the narrat ive to bear more meaning and simultaneously roots itself in its necessity.

The project also Looks at transforming the narrative in the form of a Landscape experience that aids in a more holistic understanding of a meaningless act such as a genocide. The thesis aims at bringing out episodes of importance to the story that represent the diverse and contradictory conditions of civilians throughout the civil war - the war bunkers and the forests of kilinochchi (vanni) abstracting their forms in order to repurpose their strengths in the complete narrative, simultaneously touching upon the whole spectrum of loss and hope.
By exploring the role of placelessness in architecture, disjunction of the present was attempted to be addressed through the imposition of the need for critical memory of
brazen events in order to provide platforms of discourse on tolerance and inclusion.
Jury Comments

The overall space is well made with tree canopies to sit, sunken courts to integrate the exterior to interior and techniques to provide light in the basement.

The trees canopies give a subtle shade at a higher elevat ion, softening the whole space.

The project is a comment on the existing condition of most metropolitan cities in india.

This project situates itself in the Silicon City of Bengaluru. The city when created was envisioned as a market place enclosed by a fort with a large network of lakes and vegetat ive
spaces/forest s. The city even grew on to bag titles like the" garden city of India". The city has grown and developed exponentially in the past few years. While this development has brought with it significant progress and infrastruct ure, the development is slowly turning into destruction.
The project is a sati re in architecture. The project takes fo rm of a park to remind us of the memories of the garden city of Bangalore. The idea is to redefine the typology of a park in a highly urban setting. It takes form of an "urban park" t hat not only takes us back to the city's past and its memories of the "garden city" but also accommodates the cit y's present and its people. The project being a sat ire makes use of architecture to mock at, comment on and realize the reality. The project takes a dig at the existing utility of t he flyover.
The urban park is situated right amidst the chaotic Hebbal flyover which is infamous for its hour-long traffic jams. The park unfolds itselfas a series of ramps and pathways mimicking the flyove r, but the difference being - you can get across this one without waiting for hours in a traffic jam. This thesis therefore addresses architecture in the form of a narrative and not solely a built form. It tells a story to t hose accessing the amenities in t he park, or to those simply traversing across t he park as a thoroughfare or to even those watching from the flyover above as t hey wait in traffic. Visible from all levels and located at a highly act ive and important junction in the core of the city, it becomes a perfect spot to make a comment and address the issue. The project being a satire has been explored through a series of collages, memes, comics and illustrates the architecture
as a narrative in space and time (the past , the present and the future)

Taken from : ARCHIVING ARCHITECTURAL THESIS 2020 - "Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis" the annual program conducted by the Council of Architecture through its academic unit Council of Architecture Training and Research Centre (COA TRC) completed its eleventh cycle in 2016.
