•To foster the teaching of subjects of settlement planning through aiding grant allocation to schools.
•To devise and impose the means for testing of candidates for membership admission.
•To consider all that affecting the practice of planning and to procure changes of amendments in the law.

Aims and objectives of RTPI are
•Its object, incorporated in its Charter, is to advance the science and art of planning (including town and country and spatial planning) for the benefit of the public.
•Shaping and informing Policy and Practice.
• Developing knowledge, education and raising standards.
•Championing the planning profession while supporting and growing membership. (feedback systems)
•Empowering Communities.
•Deliver strong financial and business management in a member focused organization.
Aims and objectives of American Institute of Certified Planners
Aims and objectives of AICP are
Provides leadership in the development of vital communities by advocating excellence in planning, promoting education and citizen empowerment, and providing our members with the tools and support necessary to meet the challenges of growth and change.
Advocate for planning at the national level.
Promote good planning through vigorous public information and education programs.
Assure excellence in the field – the efforts of the Planning Accreditation Board and emphasizing the importance of AICP certification for practicing planners.
Seek national and international partnerships to advance the planning movement and principles of sustainability, inclusion, and nondiscrimination.
