देहली सैकडो वर्षों से देश की राजधानी रही है। इसी तरह आगरा को मी मुगल शासन में राजधानी के रूप में रहने का सौभाग्य मिल चुका है। शासको की राजधानी होने के कारण इन दोनो नगरो मे ही खण्डेलवाल जैन समाज के सदस्य सैकडो वर्षों में रह रहे है। जब से मुगल शासको के दरबार में राजस्थान के राजाओ का प्रभाव बढा तथा उनको उच्च अधिकारी गवर्नर जैसे पद प्राप्त होने लगे तो इन गवर्नरो के साथ खण्डेलवाल समाज के व्यक्ति भी आवश्यक व्यवस्था के लिए जाते रहते और धीरे-धीरे देहली, आगरा जैसे नगरो में बसते रहे। उत्तर प्रदेश के कुछ जिले सरावगी समाज बहुल जिले है ।

The Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community gradually expanded to Delhi, Agra, and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, influenced by historical and administrative developments.

Delhi and Agra:

Delhi, being the capital city for centuries, naturally attracted members of the Khandelwal Jain community.
Similarly, Agra, which served as the capital during the Mughal era, became another key destination for the community.
With the increasing influence of Rajasthani rulers in the Mughal courts, high-ranking officials and governors often brought Khandelwal Jain families with them to assist in administration and manage resources.
Over time, many Khandelwal Jains settled permanently in Delhi and Agra, forming vibrant communities.

Other Cities in Uttar Pradesh:

Besides Delhi and Agra, several districts in Uttar Pradesh have become home to Khandelwal Jains.
Their migration was often linked to administrative assignments, trade opportunities, and religious connections, helping them establish a strong presence in the region.

Role in Society:

The Khandelwal Jain community’s migration to these areas highlights their integration into the socio-political framework of the time, their role in governance, and their ability to adapt while maintaining their cultural and religious values. Their contributions to commerce, administration, and the development of Jain temples have left a lasting legacy in these regions.

4. महाराष्ट्र एवं दक्षिण भारत की ओर प्रवास

मालवा से एवं राजस्थान के दूसरे भागो से खण्डेलवाल जैन समाज महाराष्ट्र प्रान्त एवं दक्षिण भारत में विशेषतः कर्नाटक प्रदेश में बस गया। महाराष्ट्र के नागपुर प्रान्त में खण्डेलवाल जैनो के पर्याप्त संख्या में परिवार मिलते है इनमें आकोला, भिलाई, छिदवाड़ा, दुर्ग, नागपुर, वाशिम, वर्षा, जैसे नगरो के नाम उल्लेखनीय है ।

इसी तरह दक्षिण भारत मे ओरंगाबाद, हैदराबाद जैसे नगगे में खण्डेलवाल समाज के अच्छी सख्या में परिवार मिलते है। महाराष्ट्र मे 500-600 वर्ष पूर्व ही इस समाज के परिवार जाकर बसने लगे थे। परिवारो के एक प्रदेश से दूसरे प्रदेश में जाने की यह प्रक्रिया वर्तमान में भी चालू है और अब सरावगी समाज दक्षिण भारत में भी जाकर रहने लगा है।

4. Migration Towards Maharashtra and South India

The Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community gradually expanded beyond Rajasthan, moving into Maharashtra and various regions of South India, particularly Karnataka.

In Maharashtra:

Families from Malwa and Rajasthan migrated to cities like Nagpur, Akola, Bhilai, Chhindwara, Durg, Washim, and others.
Historical records suggest that the Khandelwal Jains began settling in Maharashtra over 500–600 years ago.
Today, their presence in Maharashtra is significant, with thriving communities in these towns and cities.

In South India:

The Khandelwal Jains extended their migration to southern regions such as Aurangabad and Hyderabad.
Over time, the community became well-integrated into the social and economic fabric of these areas.

Continued Migration:

The migration process, which began centuries ago, continues even today.
Families from the Khandelwal Jain community are increasingly settling in South India, drawn by opportunities for commerce, education, and other pursuits.

The movement towards Maharashtra and South India highlights the adaptability, enterprise, and resilience of the Khandelwal Jains, as they established themselves as a prominent community in these regions while preserving their religious and cultural identity.

खण्डेला का खण्डेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज धीरे-धीरे राजस्थान से मालवा क्षेत्र की ओर जाकर बसने लगा

The Khandelwal Digambar Jain community, originally centered in Khandela, gradually migrated to different regions over time. This migration was marked by their establishment in various parts of Rajasthan, neighboring states, and eventually across India and abroad.

3. मालवा क्षेत्र की ओर प्रवास (Migration Towards the Malwa Region)

खण्डेला से एक दल ने हाड़ौती प्रान्त मे होता हुआ मालवा क्षेत्र मे प्रवेश किया तथा उज्जैन को अपना केन्द्र बनाया।

One group of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community moved from Khandela, passing through the Hadoti region, and eventually settled in the Malwa region, with Ujjain becoming their primary center.

उज्जैन से यह समाज इन्दौर, बडनगर, लश्कर, रतलाम एवं मालवा के अन्य नगरो में प्रवेश कर गया। आहार जी क्षेत्र पर सम्वत् 1212 में खण्डेलवाल जैन परिवार द्वारा प्रतिष्ठित मूर्ति उस क्षेत्र मे खण्डेलवाल जैनो के प्रभाव की ओर संकेत करता है।

Ujjain as the Epicenter:

From Ujjain, the community spread to Indore, Badnagar, Lashkar, Ratlam, and other towns in the Malwa region.
The presence of the Khandelwal Jains in Malwa is evidenced by historical records, such as the Samvat 1212 inscription of a temple at Ahar Ji, indicating their influence and devotion.

उज्जैन तो भगवान महावीर के समय में जैन धर्म से प्रभावित था तथा वहा आचार्य मद्रबाहु, सम्राट चन्द्रगुप्त, आर्य रक्षित जैसे आचार्यो का विहार हुआ था। मालवा क्षेत्र में वर्तमान मे भी खण्डेलवाल जैनो की सर्वाधिक सख्या है और इन्दौर सरावगी समाज का जयपुर के पश्चात् दूसरा प्रमुख नगर है ।

Historical Jain Connections in Malwa:

Ujjain was already an important center of Jainism during the time of Lord Mahavir.
Eminent Jain personalities like Acharya Bhadrabahu, Emperor Chandragupta, and Arya Rakshit visited Ujjain, contributing to its status as a major Jain hub.

Modern Influence:

Today, the Malwa region continues to have one of the highest populations of Khandelwal Jains.
Indore, in particular, has emerged as the second most important city for the Sarawagi community after Jaipur.

The migration to Malwa not only established the Khandelwal Jains in a new region but also reinforced Jain culture, religion, and social influence in this historically significant area.

Migration of the Sarawagi Towards Chittorgarh-Ajmer-Ghatiyali-Malpura-Amer-Sanganer

2. चित्तौड़-अजमेर-घटियाली-मालपुरा-आमेर-सांगानेर की ओर प्रवास

खण्डेला प्रदेश से खण्डेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज का एक दल चित्तौड जाकर बस गया । वैसे चित्तौड तो आचार्य धरसेन के पूर्व ही जैन धर्म एवं सस्कृति का केन्द्र बन गया था। आचार्य वीरसेन के विद्या गुरु एलाचार्य ने चित्तोड को अपना केन्द्र बना रया था।

Another section of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community migrated from Khandela to Chittorgarh, a region already recognized as a center of Jain culture and religion before the era of Acharya Dharsen. Acharya Virsen’s teacher, Elacharya, had established his base in Chittorgarh, further strengthening Jain traditions in the region.

चित्तौड से सरावगी समाज अजमेर की ओर बढ़ा। इसके पश्चात् अजमेर खण्डेलवाल समाज का केन्द्र बन गया। सवत् 701 मे वीरम काला द्वारा वहा मदिर का निर्माण कराने एव पंच कल्याणक प्रतिष्ठा आयोजित करने का उल्लेख मिलता है।

Expansion to Ajmer:

From Chittorgarh, the community expanded to Ajmer, making it a significant center for the Khandelwal Jains.
Historical records show that in Samvat 701, Veeram Kala constructed a temple in Ajmer and organized a Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha ceremony.

घटियाली में भी साह एवं कामलीवाल गोत्रीय श्रावको का आकर बम जाने का उल्लेख मिलता है। मालपुरा क्षेत्र भी सरावगी ममाज का प्रमुख क्षेत्र रहा और यहा से वे आस-पास के क्षेत्र में फैल गये।

Ghatiyali and Malpura:

The Sarawagi community later settled in Ghatiyali, with members of the Sah and Kamlival gotras establishing their roots there.
Malpura also became a key center for the community, from where they expanded to neighboring areas.

मालपुरा में सागानेर और आमेर की ओर बढते गये । आमेर के राजाओ का सरावगी समाज को इतना भारी प्रश्रय मिला कि आमेर और सागानेर इस समाज के केन्द्र बन गये। सांगानेर का सघी जी का मन्दिर एव आमेर का सावला बाबा का मन्दिर इसके स्पष्ट प्रमाण है।

Rise of Amer and Sanganer:

The community moved towards Amer and Sanganer, benefiting from the patronage of the Amer rulers, who provided strong support to the Sarawagi community.
Amer and Sanganer became vital centers for the Khandelwal Jains:
- The Sanghi Ji temple in Sanganer stands as a symbol of their religious dedication.
- The Sawla Baba temple in Amer further signifies their presence and contribution to the area.

जयपुर में जितने भी खण्डेलवाल जैन परिवार आये थे उनमे अधिकाश आमेर और सागानेर से ही आकर बसे थे ।

Influence in Jaipur:

Many Khandelwal Jain families who eventually settled in Jaipur originally migrated from Amer and Sanganer.
Jaipur became a significant center for the community, with its roots deeply connected to the Amer-Sanganer region.

Through their migration and settlement, the Khandelwal Digambar Jains not only built temples but also fostered the growth of Jain culture and religion in Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Ghatiyali, Malpura, Amer, and Sanganer, leaving a lasting legacy.

Migration of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) Community

खंडेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज का प्रवास

खण्डेला का खण्डेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज धीरे-धीरे राजस्थान में निम्न प्रकार अन्यत्र जाकर बसने लगा

1. सीकर-लाडनूं-नागौर की ओर प्रवास

खण्डेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज का एक दल खण्डेला से निकल कर सीकर एवं लाडनूं तक जा पहुंच। । सीकर एवं लाडनूं को उसने अपना केन्द्र बनाया। सीकर से भी अधिक वह लाडनूं पहुंचा । वहाँ जाकर अपना प्रभाव क्षेत्र बढ़ाया। मन्दिरों का निर्माण होने लगा तथा सम्वत् 505 में वहाँ प्रथम पंच कल्याणक प्रतिष्ठा सम्पन्न हुई । लाडनू में इस प्रतिष्ठा के पश्चात् दूसरी प्रतिष्ठायें होने लगी। अब तक वहाँ सम्पन्न 27 पंच कल्याणक प्रतिष्ठानों की जानकारी मिल चुकी है। लाडनू से आगे सुजानगढ़ एव नागौर की दिशा में वह बढ़ता गया और एक समय में नागौर दिगम्बर जैन समाज की दृष्टि से मारवाड़ का प्रमुख केन्द्र बन गया । वर्तमान में भी नागौर जिले का क्षेत्र खण्डेलवाल जैन समाज का प्रमुख केन्द्र माना जाता है ।

नागौर के पश्चात् शाकंभरी का क्षेत्र भी सरावगी समाज का प्रमुख क्षेत्र बन गया। इस क्षेत्र का “नारायणा” कस्बा कभी इस समाज का प्रमुख केन्द्र था । वहाँ उत्खनन से प्राप्त मूर्तियाँ इसके स्पष्ट प्रमाण हैं। इस प्रकार खण्डेलवाल जैन परिवार धीरे-धीरे इस सारे क्षेत्र में छा गये और इस पूरे क्षेत्र मे जैन धर्म और संस्कृति का विकास होने लगा ।

नरायणा के बाद मोजमाबाद खण्डेलवाल जैनों का प्रमुख केन्द्र बन गया । 17वीं शताब्दी में निमित वहाँ का मन्दिर एवं सम्वत् 1664 में सम्पन्न विशालतम पंच कल्याणक प्रतिष्ठा इसके स्पष्ट प्रमाण है ।

1. Migration Towards Sikar-Ladnun-Nagaur-Sambhar-Narayana

A section of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community migrated from Khandela to Sikar and Ladnun, ultimately making Ladnun their main center. They extended their influence in Ladnun, leading to significant developments in the region.

Key Developments in Ladnun:

The first Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha ceremony was held in Ladnun in Samvat 505.
Following this, 27 more Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha ceremonies were organized over time, solidifying Ladnun’s religious importance.

From Ladnun, the community moved toward Sujangarh and Nagaur, making Nagaur a major center for the Digambar Jain community in Marwar. Even today, the Nagaur district is considered a key hub for the Khandelwal Jain community.

Expansion Beyond Nagaur:

After establishing themselves in Nagaur, the community also spread to Sambhar and Narayana.
Narayana once served as a central hub for the Sarawagi community. Excavated Jain idols from the area provide clear evidence of this.

Mojmabad as a Center:

Mojmabad later became a significant center for the Khandelwal Jain community.
The construction of a Jain temple in the 17th century and a grand Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha in Samvat 1664 demonstrate the community’s religious devotion and influence.

Through steady migration and settlement, the Khandelwal Digambar Jain community established temples, expanded Jain culture, and contributed significantly to the growth of Jainism in the Sikar-Ladnun-Nagaur region.

6. बिहार-बंगाल-आसाम-नागालैण्ड आदि प्रदेशों की ओर प्रवास ( Migration Towards Bihar, Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, and Other Regions )

The migration of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain (Sarawagi) community to Bihar, Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, and nearby areas showcases their adventurous spirit and adaptability in seeking new opportunities while fostering their cultural and religious identity.

इस प्रकार खण्डेलवाल जैन समाज उत्तर से दक्षिण एवं पूर्व से पश्चिम के अन्तिम छोर तक बसा हुआ मिलता है। लेकिन यह सब सैकडो वर्षों की कड़ी मेहनत, अध्यवसाय एवं साहस से हो सका है। इस जाति के नर रत्नो ने अपने घर से लौटा-डोर लेकर निकलने तथा अन्य प्रान्तो में जाकर लाखो करोड़ो की सम्पत्ति अर्जन करने में प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त की है।

ढूंढाड़ प्रदेश इनका अपना प्रदेश है, जिसके छोटे-छोटे गाँवों तक में इस जाति के सदस्य रहते है। जयपुर खण्डेलवाल जैन समाज का प्रमुख नगर है जिसमें पूरी समाज का दसवाँ भाग रहता है।

The Dhundhar Region is the homeland of the Khandelwal Jain community, with its members residing even in the smallest villages throughout the area. Jaipur is the principal city for the Khandelwal Jain community, home to approximately one-tenth of the entire community.

खण्डेलवाल दिगंबर जैन (सरावगी) समाज के सैकडो परिवार यूरोप एवं अमेरिका जाकर बस गये है और वही के नागरिक हो गये है। मिलेंगे । अपना नगर छोड़ कर यूरोप में भी अमेरिका में ऐसे परिवार अधिक विदेश में जाकर बसने की प्रवृत्ति बराबर रही है।

International Migration

Over the past few decades, many Khandelwal Jain families have moved to Europe and America, becoming citizens of these countries.
Despite being abroad, these families continue to maintain their cultural and religious practices.

Significance and Legacy

The migration of the Khandelwal Digambar Jain community across India and beyond reflects their entrepreneurial spirit, religious commitment, and adaptability. Their efforts have enriched the regions they settled in, spreading Jain culture, temples, and traditions far and wide. Today, Jaipur remains the community’s central hub, but their influence can be seen globally.
