6.2 संवातन शैफ्ट के मापदण्ड :-

प्रत्येक स्नानघर, शौचालय, टायलेट इस प्रकार होगा कि उसकी कम से कम एक दीवार बाहरी की तरफ अथवा “संवातन शैफ्ट” की तरफ खुले और खुलने का स्थान खिड़की या वातायन के रूप में न्यूनतम 0.4 व.मी. हो परन्तु यह सीमा 50 व.मी. से अधिक क्षेत्रफल के भूखण्डों पर ही लागू रहेगी। फ्लश, शौचालय और स्नानघर संवातन हेतु यदि अग्र, पार्श्व, पृष्ठ और भीतरी खुले स्थानों में न खुले तो संवातन शैफ्ट में खुलेगें, जिनका आकार निम्नलिखित से कम नहीं होगा :-

6.2 Ventilation Shaft Standards

Every bathroom, W.C., and toilet shall be designed such that:

• At least one wall opens either towards the external side or towards a ventilation shaft, and
• The opening (window or ventilator) shall have a minimum area of 0.4 sq.m.

However, this requirement shall apply only to plots having an area more than 50 sq.m.

If flush toilets, W.C., and bathrooms do not open into front, side, rear, or internal open spaces for ventilation, they shall open into a ventilation shaft, the size of which shall not be less than the following:

(i) यदि रसोई, वास योग्य कमरा, अध्ययन कक्ष की कोई भी एक भुजा (फ्लश, शौचालय और स्नानघर को छोडकर) सामने, पीछे व साईड सैटबेक में नहीं खुलती है तो वह आन्तरिक कोर्ट यार्ड मे खुल सकती है जिसकी न्यूनतम भुजा 3 मीटर होनी चाहिए। आन्तरिक कोर्ट यार्ड का क्षेत्रफल भवन की ऊँचाई/कोर्ट यार्ड की भुजा के साथ लगती हुई उच्चतम दीवार की उँचाई का 1/5 भाग का वर्ग से कम नहीं होगा अर्थात यदि भवन की ऊंचाई यदि 30 मीटर हो तो कोर्ट यार्ड का क्षेत्रफल न्यूनतम 36 वर्गमीटर होगा।
(i) Internal Courtyard Requirement

If any one side of a kitchen, habitable room, or study room (excluding flush, W.C., and bathroom) does not open into the front, rear, or side setback, it may open into an internal courtyard, provided that:

• The minimum side (width) of the courtyard shall be 3 meters.
• The minimum area of the courtyard shall not be less than:

$$\left(\frac{1}{5} \times \text{height of the building or height of the tallest wall abutting the courtyard}\right)^2$$(51​×height of the building or height of the tallest wall abutting the courtyard)2

For example:
If the building height is 30 meters, then the minimum courtyard area shall be:$$(30/5)^2 = 6^2 = 36 \text{ sq.m.}$$

Thus, the minimum required courtyard area would be 36 sq.m.

(ii) वाणिज्यिक, संस्थागत एवं स्टूडियों आपार्टमेन्ट भवनों जिनमें स्नानघर, शौचालय, टायलेट के संवातन के लिए मेकेनिकल वेंटिलेशन सिस्टम किया जाना प्रस्तावित होगा, वहाँ इनके वातायन के लिये संवातन शॉफ्ट में खुलने की आवश्यकता नहीं रहेगी।

(ii) Mechanical Ventilation Provision : In commercial, institutional, and studio apartment buildings, where a mechanical ventilation system is proposed for bathrooms, W.C., and toilets:

• It shall not be necessary for such spaces to open into a ventilation shaft.
