2.16 Residential Building – A building that is primarily used for human habitation or is mainly intended for residential purposes is referred to as a ‘Residential Building’.
2.16 आवासीय भवन’ (Residential Building) से कोई भवन जो मुख्य रूप से मनुष्यों के आवासन के लिये काम आता हो या अधिकल्पित हो, अभिप्रेत है।

2.17 A ‘Dwelling Unit‘ refers to a building or its part that has at least one habitable room, a kitchen, a toilet and is mainly intended for residential purposes or is used for such purposes.
2.17 ‘निवास इकाई ( Dwelling Unit) से भवन या उसका भाग जिसमें न्यूनतम एक वास योग्य कमरा, रसोई, शौचालय हो जो पूर्णतः /मुख्यतः निवास प्रयोजन के लिए अधिकल्पित हो या उपयोग में लिया जाता हो, अभिप्रेत है।
2.18 An ‘Independent Residence‘ refers to a residential building that is proposed/built with a maximum of four dwelling units.
2.18 ‘स्वतंत्र आवास’ (Independent Residence) से ऐसा आवासीय भवन जिसमे अधिकतम चार निवास इकाइयों प्रस्तावित/निर्मित हो, अभिप्रेत है।

2.19 A ‘Multiple Dwelling Unit‘ refers to a residential building that is proposed/built with four or more dwelling units.

2.19 बहु निवास इकाई (Multiple Dwelling Units) से ऐसा आवासीय भवन जिसमे चार से अधिक निवास इकाइयों का निर्माण प्रस्तावित निर्मित हो अभिप्रेत है।
2.20 Flats – A residential building that is proposed/built on a plot of 750 square meters or more and has four or more dwelling units is referred to as ‘Flats’ .

2.20 फ्लैट्स (Flats ) 750 व.मी. एवं इससे अधिक क्षेत्रफल के भूखण्ड पर प्रस्तावित / निर्मित ऐसा आवासीय भवन जिसमें चार से अधिक निवास इकाइयों का निर्माण प्रस्तावित / निर्मित हो, अभिप्रेत है।
2.21. Group Housing – A residential area created through Group Housing which consists of independent housing units/apartments/flats in a group, with necessary amenities such as parks, community facilities etc. and is bounded by a boundary wall (Gated Community) for security purposes.

2.21. ‘ग्रुप हाउसिंग (Group Housing) से स्वतंत्र आवासो/बहु निवास इकाईयों / फ्लेट्स के समूहों का ऐसा आवासीय परिसर, जिसमें कि आवास सुविधा के साथ-साथ अन्य आवश्यक सुविधाऐं यथा पार्क, सामुदायिक सुविधा आदि स्थित हों एवं परिसर की सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से भूखण्ड के चारों ओर बाउण्ड्री वॉल (Gated Community) प्रस्तावित/निर्मित हो अभिप्रेत है।
2.22. ‘Chajja’ (Projection) is a horizontal structure constructed above spaces that open onto external walls, generally for the purpose of providing protection from sunlight and rain.
2:22. ‘छज्जा’ (Projection/ Chajja) से सामान्यतया बाहरी दीवारों पर खुलने वाले स्थानों के ऊपर धूप तथा वर्षा से बचाव के प्रयोजनार्थ बनाये जाने वाली दलवा अथवा क्षैतिज संरचना, अभिप्रेत है।
2.23. ‘Basement’ refers to a part of a building that is constructed wholly or partly below ground level.
2.23 ‘बेसमेन्ट’ (Basement) से भवन का ऐसा भाग जिसे पूर्णतः या आंशिक रूप से भू-सतह के नीचे निर्मित किया गया हो, अभिप्रेत है।
2.24. ‘Built-up Area Ratio‘ (BAR Ratio) is the ratio of the total built-up area of all floors of a building to the area of the plot of land it is built on, calculated according to the norms of regulation 10.9.2.
2.24 ‘बी. ए. आर. (Built-up Area Ratio) से सभी मंजिलों के विनियम संख्या 10.9.2 के अनुसार गणना योग्य निर्मित क्षेत्रफल को भूखण्ड के क्षेत्रफल से भाग देने पर प्राप्त भागफल, अभिप्रेत है।
2.25. ‘Urban Body Local Body‘ refers to the governing body responsible for urban development, which may be a Development Authority, Urban Development Trust, Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council or Nagar Panchayat, etc.
2.25 ‘नगरीय निकाय/स्थानीय निकाय (Urban Body Local Body) से विकास प्राधिकरण नगर विकास न्यास नगर निगम निगर परिषद् / नगर पालिका जैसी भी स्थिति हो, अभिप्रेत है।
2.26. ‘National Building Code’ (NBC) refers to the prevailing version of the National Building Code published by the Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi.
2.26 ‘नेशनल बिल्डिंग कोड (National Building Code) से भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो, नई दिल्ली द्वारा प्रकाशित नेशनल बिल्डिंग कोड का प्रचलित संस्करण, अभिप्रेत है।
2.27. ‘Projection’ refers to any structure that protrudes outwards from a building (regardless of its material).
